Amid changing dynamics in the White House, reports suggest that US Vice President JD Vance is being distanced from key foreign policy decisions. According to international media, Vance is also reconsidering his plans to contest in the 2028 presidential election. Speaking at a recent event, he clarified that he is not a future presidential candidate at present and is focused on his responsibilities as Vice President. Meanwhile, there are reports of a behind-the-scenes rivalry between Vance and Marco Rubio for the 2028 nomination.
Analysts believe that the exit of former National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard from the cabinet has also influenced these developments, leaving a gap in experienced strategic counsel on foreign affairs. On the issue of a potential conflict with Iran, Vance is reportedly opposing the aggressive stance of Donald Trump and has advocated for de-escalation, warning about the global risks of nuclear proliferation. Sources indicate that Trump is dissatisfied with Vance’s analytical approach and is instead aligning closely with Rubio, who is seen as more assertive on Iran, for planning further actions.
