A shocking incident at the NIMS hospital premises has raised serious concerns about security arrangements on the campus. A man allegedly attempted to sexually assault a minor girl belonging to a construction worker's family residing near an under-construction building within the hospital premises. The incident was thwarted after the girl raised an alarm, prompting local residents to rush to the spot. The accused fled the scene, and based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family, police registered a case under the POCSO Act and launched an investigation.
The incident has sparked criticism over security lapses at NIMS, which witnesses daily movement of thousands of patients, attendants, visitors, and contract workers. Questions are being raised about monitoring of suspicious individuals, safety measures in construction zones, and surveillance systems within the campus. Allegations have also surfaced regarding difficulties faced by attendants while re-entering the hospital and claims that some staff members demand money for access, though these allegations remain unverified. Citizens are urging the hospital administration to conduct a comprehensive security review, strengthen surveillance with additional CCTV cameras, improve visitor registration systems, and implement stronger safety measures for women and children.
