The arrival of the season's first Pulasa fish has brought excitement to seafood lovers across the Godavari districts. The rare fish, which migrates from the sea into the Godavari River during the monsoon, was caught in the Gautami Godavari near Kotipalli in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district. The Pulasa weighed approximately 1.25 kilograms, making it a prized catch for local fishermen eagerly awaiting the start of the season.
The fish was later brought to the Yanam fish landing centre for auction, where it attracted significant interest from buyers and seafood enthusiasts. After competitive bidding, the Pulasa was purchased for ₹14,000 by Ponnamanda Ratnam and Bhadram, a local couple. Residents said the premium price reflects the exceptional taste and high demand for Pulasa, which is regarded as one of the most sought-after seasonal delicacies in the Godavari region.
