Senior IAS officer Sanjay Jaju is likely to be appointed as the next Chief Secretary of Telangana, succeeding incumbent Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, who is set to retire at the end of this month. The Central Government has reportedly decided to repatriate Jaju, who is currently serving as Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), to Telangana, paving the way for his appointment to the state's top bureaucratic position.
A 1992-batch IAS officer, Sanjay Jaju has held several key positions during his administrative career. He served as Sub-Collector of Vijayawada, Collector of West Godavari district, Additional Commissioner and Commissioner of the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, and Commissioner of Civil Supplies in the undivided Andhra Pradesh. He has been serving in the Central Government since 2014. Although names including Jayesh Ranjan were reportedly considered for the post, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is understood to have favored Jaju for the role. An official government order regarding his appointment is expected soon. Jaju is scheduled to remain in service until February 2029.
