Revanth Reddy Backs Gen Z in Legislatures

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said that Gen Z should be given an opportunity to contest elections to the Assembly and Lok Sabha at the age of 21, and to the Legislative Council and Rajya Sabha at 25. Addressing a candlelight rally organised in Hyderabad over student related issues, he stated that the Telangana Assembly would pass a special resolution and send it to the Centre, seeking changes in the eligibility age for contesting elections.

Revanth Reddy noted that Gen Z constitutes nearly 30% of the country's population but has less than 1% representation in the Lok Sabha. He said greater youth participation in legislatures is essential to address their concerns effectively. The Chief Minister also announced plans to convene a special session of the Assembly and Council in the first week of August to approve the resolution.
