Record Rain Batters Gujarat, Red Alert Issued

Torrential rain has triggered widespread flooding across several parts of Gujarat, bringing daily life to a standstill. Umbergaon taluka in Valsad district recorded an astonishing 1,100 mm of rainfall within just 16 hours, making it one of the highest short-duration rainfall events in recent years. Many nearby locations also witnessed rainfall exceeding 600 mm, resulting in severe waterlogging and disruption.

The India Meteorological Department has issued a Red Alert for Surat, Navsari, Dang, Tapi and Valsad districts, warning residents to remain cautious as heavy rainfall is expected to continue. In Vapi and surrounding areas, hundreds of vehicles and houses have been submerged, while emergency teams remain on alert to monitor the evolving flood situation.
