RC cancellation made mandatory for old vehicles

The Centre has issued new guidelines making it mandatory to cancel the Registration Certificate (RC) after scrapping old vehicles. It has clearly stated that vehicles must be dismantled only at authorised scrapping centres. Failure to comply with these rules will make the vehicle owners legally responsible.

The government also clarified that incentives will be provided only when the proper scrapping procedure is followed. These measures aim to strengthen de-registration norms, ensure environmental safety, and regulate the transport system more effectively.
