The Telangana Police Department has embarked on a significant initiative to improve the health and well-being of its personnel. Director General of Police (DGP) C.V. Anand on Friday announced that a comprehensive health management app called 'FitCop' will be launched for more than 90,000 police personnel across the state. He said that due to extreme stress and time constraints, the employees are not able to focus on their health and this app will fill that gap.
The police health management profile system named 'TG Fit Cop' is being developed in collaboration with the Helping Hand Foundation and other organisations. According to a statement issued by the DGP's office, an action plan is being prepared to implement it in the next 30 to 45 days. Through this app, employees can enter their personal health details. Key information such as diabetes, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), lifestyle habits, smoking, alcohol consumption etc. will be collected.
Staff can log into the system with their mobile phone number. Based on the information provided by them, they will be classified into low, medium and high risk groups. This risk assessment identifies who needs immediate medical attention. Salman, founder of Helping Hand Foundation, said staff will be contacted through a dedicated call centre depending on the level of risk. Those in need will be provided medical check-ups, hospital treatment, health advice and counselling.
The primary objective of Fit Cap is to detect kidney related diseases, diabetes and hypertension at an early stage and provide medical attention before they become severe. Through this program, the police department hopes to increase health consciousness among personnel and promote preventive measures. The programme will be extended to all the departments and departments of the Telangana Police Department. DGP Anand expressed hope that 'Fit Cop' will emerge as an important institutional mechanism to protect the health of the staff. The meeting was attended by senior police officers and representatives of the Helping Hand Foundation.
