Raj Kasireddy, Vasudeva Reddy Get No Relief from Supreme Court

Raj Kasireddy and Vasudeva Reddy, accused in the Andhra Pradesh liquor transportation scam case, received no relief from the Supreme Court. The court dismissed their pleas seeking anticipatory bail. Their lawyers informed the court that the accused were already in Enforcement Directorate custody. The Supreme Court directed that the process for taking them into SIT custody after the ED custody ends be completed at the earliest.

Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant told the bench that the case was extremely serious and that Raj Kasireddy was a key accused. He questioned the defence lawyers on why there would be any issue if the ED and other investigating agencies proceeded with their investigations simultaneously. The court directed that the production warrant process for SIT custody be completed promptly after the ED custody ends. It clarified that the accused could then approach the concerned lower court for regular bail, which would be considered on its merits.
