Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan met Irrigation Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu on Thursday to discuss the impact of the expected Super El Niño and the state's irrigation challenges. Pawan stressed the need to create awareness among farmers about the possible water crisis by conducting direct meetings and educating them on the situation. He also suggested exploring alternative measures to minimise the impact on agriculture.
Pawan thanked Minister Nimmala for releasing 1,000 cusecs of water from the Yeleru Project, saying it had provided relief to farmers in Pithapuram, Peddapuram, and Jaggampeta. He urged officials to promote the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, prevent water wastage, remove silt from canals, repair leakages, and give special attention to Kakinada district and Pithapuram. During the meeting, Nimmala also wished Pawan a speedy recovery after his shoulder surgery.
