Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay honoured Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa with a ₹50 lakh incentive on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority. The recognition was given after his historic triumph in the Norway Chess 2026 Series.
Praggnanandhaa became the first Indian to win the prestigious Norway Chess title, marking a landmark achievement in Indian chess history. The state government praised his exceptional performance and contribution to elevating India’s global chess reputation.
