

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the demise of legendary filmmaker Bharathiraja, who passed away on June 10 due to illness. Calling his death an irreparable loss to the film industry, the Prime Minister stated that Bharathiraja transformed the landscape of Tamil cinema. In a message shared on X, he described the director as a guiding star of Indian cinema and praised his exceptional portrayal of rural life on screen, which will remain unforgettable for generations.
Meanwhile, veteran actor Venkatesh Daggubati also paid heartfelt tributes, saying the loss deeply saddened him. He lauded Bharathiraja as an extraordinary filmmaker and a mentor to many in the industry. Venkatesh added that the director’s films would forever remain timeless classics in Indian cinema and prayed for peace to his soul.
