Marking one year since Operation Sindoor launched on May 7 in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, Indian government officials are preparing for a special media briefing. Colonel Sophia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, who earlier detailed the operation, are set to address the media again on the same date. Official confirmation is awaited, but preparations are reportedly underway.
They are expected to be joined by Navy Commander Prerna Devasthali and senior defence officials. The briefing will likely cover operational details, strategic planning, and the significance of the mission. It will also highlight the growing role of women officers in national defence. Colonel Sophia Qureshi, a biochemistry postgraduate from Gujarat, has served in the Army Signal Corps since the 1990s, while Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, an engineering graduate, is a helicopter pilot who received a permanent commission in the Flying Branch on December 18, 2019.
