The Central Government has taken a pivotal decision to ban online betting games across the country. The regulations designed to regulate the rapidly expanding online gaming sector have come into effect starting today. Under this new policy, stringent controls have been imposed on activities related to both online betting games and real-money games.
According to these regulations, advertisements and financial transactions associated with betting sites are completely prohibited. The government has also made it clear that action will be taken against gaming apps that mislead consumers. It stated that this decision was taken with the objective of curbing this gaming ecosystem, which is having a negative impact on the youth.
The government has warned that severe penalties will be imposed on those who violate these regulations. It further indicated that offenders could face not only imprisonment but also heavy fines. With this decision coming into force nationwide, significant changes are expected to take place within the online gaming sector.
