‘Not a Bimaru State’.. UP Is the Engine of India’s Economic Growth: Yogi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the state has overcome its economic backwardness and has emerged as an important contributor to India’s economic growth. Speaking at an event in Lucknow on Vishwakarma Jayanti, he said Uttar Pradesh was no longer a “Bimaru” state. He attributed the change to government initiatives aimed at promoting traditional artisans, indigenous products and entrepreneurship. Adityanath said the state now has 9.6 million MSME units, providing employment to around 32.5 million people.

On the occasion, Adityanath inaugurated the Vishwakarma Swarozgar and Swadeshi Mela-2026 and highlighted measures taken to support traditional artisans through training, toolkits, credit and market access. He said more than six lakh artisans and craftsmen had received toolkits and training under the Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana over the past seven to eight years. He also extended birthday greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the programme.
