NIMS Achieves Milestone of 1,000 Robotic Surgeries in Under Three Years

Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad, has reached a significant milestone by successfully performing 1,000 robotic surgeries in less than three years. The achievement reflects the hospital's rapid advancement in robotic-assisted healthcare. More than 90% of these surgeries were carried out free of cost through the Aarogyasri and Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF) schemes, making advanced treatment accessible to a large number of patients.

The hospital successfully performed robotic surgeries on patients ranging from a nine-month-old infant to an 83-year-old elderly patient. Among the departments, Urology recorded the highest number with 590 surgeries, followed by Surgical Gastroenterology with 248 and Surgical Oncology with 162 procedures. With this accomplishment, NIMS has emerged as one of India's leading government hospitals for robotic surgery alongside AIIMS Delhi and Kidwai Memorial Institute, offering patients less pain, reduced blood loss, and faster recovery.
