New five-star hotels are set to come up in the vicinity of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad. The Oberoi Group and Venkateswara Hotels have initiated plans for hotel construction. The Oberai Group is expected to invest ₹532 crore on a 3.63-acre site, while Venkateswara Hotels plans to invest ₹102 crore on one acre. At present, Novotel is the prominent five-star hotel serving the airport area and frequently caters to VIPs and international guests. To facilitate the development of more luxury hotels, the government has allotted land in Tukkuguda Hardware Park-3.
The rapid expansion of industries and IT companies around the airport, along with the commencement of operations from the Bharat Future City office, is expected to boost investment activity in the region. The proposed Gandhi Sarovar project, located around 10–15 km from the airport, is also expected to increase the movement of international visitors and tourists. The Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) has set an 18-month deadline for industries and hotels allotted land in Hardware Park-3 to commence operations from the date of construction. With aerospace parks, defence component manufacturers and Amazon already starting operations, the Maheshwaram–Tukkuguda corridor is witnessing rapid development.
