Nandan Nilekani, Kamath Brothers Among Prominent Names Flagged for Voter List Verification

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is underway in Karnataka, with discrepancies in voter details leading to verification notices involving several prominent individuals. Officials said the names of Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani, his family members and Zerodha founders Nithin and Nikhil Kamath, among others, have appeared in the list of cases requiring verification. Nilekani and his family members have reportedly been placed in the “unmapped” category because their details could not be matched with the 2002 electoral rolls. In Bengaluru South Assembly constituency, discrepancies were reportedly found in the names of the parents of Nithin Kamath, Nikhil Kamath and their mother Revathi Kamath.

Officials have said the verification process will not cause inconvenience to prominent individuals, as the concerned staff will visit them to complete the formalities. Reports had earlier suggested that a minor name discrepancy had also created an issue involving Bharat Ratna awardee and renowned scientist C.N.R. Rao. However, Greater Bengaluru Authority Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao clarified that although there was a slight variation in Rao’s name compared with the previous electoral roll, no notice had been issued to him. The developments come as Karnataka continues its voter-roll verification exercise.
