Alliance coordination committees in Andhra Pradesh have stepped up efforts to manage nomination withdrawals ahead of the municipal elections. With the deadline for withdrawing nominations set for 3 p.m. tomorrow, leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are working to resolve contests between candidates from the alliance partners. Particular attention is being given to mayoral and municipal chairperson posts, with efforts underway to ensure that the alliance's official candidates receive coordinated support. Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Eluru municipal corporations, along with several municipalities and nagar panchayats, are among the key areas being monitored.
Only candidates who have received the official party B-forms will be recognised as the authorised nominees of their respective parties. Against this backdrop, coordination committees are attempting to persuade dissatisfied leaders and rebel candidates to withdraw their nominations before the deadline expires. The aim is to prevent friendly contests and consolidate support behind the officially nominated candidates. The final nomination list, following the withdrawal process, is expected to clarify the contest in various municipal bodies across the state.
