Amaravati will be developed with an integrated township on the lines of Singapore’s Punggol region, said Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh. He stated that this township will serve as a model not only for Andhra Pradesh but for the entire country. He also directed officials to speed up the finalization of procedures while securing necessary support from the World Bank.
A state delegation led by Minister Lokesh held discussions in Singapore with representatives from the Ministry of Trade and Industry. During the meeting, he emphasized the need to develop the Amaravati Economic Region into a world-class hub. He noted that a notification has already been issued inviting proposals from interested partners. Lokesh added that Amaravati now has national legal status, which will boost investor confidence in the region.
The Andhra Pradesh government aims to position the state as a key trade hub connecting Southeast Asia and East Asia. It is also planning to develop the state into a global destination for international conferences and exhibitions, similar to Singapore. Lokesh stated that Singapore’s expertise will be utilized to strengthen real-time governance in the state, and assured that a favorable environment will be created for investors.
