Four US states have declared August 15 as ‘India Day’ to mark India’s Independence Day. Governors of New York and New Jersey issued proclamations in this regard, while Massachusetts and Delaware also made similar announcements. The move has added to the celebrations among the Indian-American community across the states.
Special events featuring the Indian national flag are being planned to mark the occasion. The iconic Empire State Building in New York is also set to be illuminated in the colours of the Indian tricolour. The celebrations are being seen as a reflection of the growing recognition of Indian culture and the strong ties between India and the United States.
