A 28-year-old medical student, Kanike Priyanka, succumbed to her injuries after battling for life for five days following a brutal hit-and-run incident in Rajahmundry, East Godavari district. The accident occurred when two youths, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, rammed their car into the bike she was riding with a friend near Prasadyta Mall. The car reportedly hit the bike three times before fleeing the scene, leaving Priyanka critically injured with severe head trauma.
Priyanka was initially admitted to a local private hospital and later shifted to Hyderabad for advanced treatment. Doctors declared her brain dead despite all efforts to save her. In a noble gesture, her family chose to donate her organs, giving hope and life to others even in the face of personal tragedy. The incident has once again raised serious concerns over drunk driving and road safety.
