Several social media posts claimed that multiple world leaders who attended the BRICS summit had fallen ill. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has strongly rejected these reports, describing the claims as completely “fake” and urging the public not to believe or circulate misleading posts.
The clarification comes amid rumours surrounding South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s absence from events in Bihar and social media claims that Chinese President Xi Jinping had suffered a health-related setback. The MEA said such reports circulating on social media are false.
