Major Navya Shekhawat Appointed as ADC to President Droupadi Murmu

Major Navya Shekhawat has achieved a significant milestone in the Indian Army after being appointed as Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to President Droupadi Murmu. She is the first woman officer from the Indian Army to hold the President’s ADC position and the second woman military officer overall to take up the role. In 2025, Lieutenant Commander Yashasvi Solanki of the Indian Navy became the first woman to serve as the President’s ADC.

The President’s ADCs assist during official engagements, ceremonies, visits and matters related to military and ceremonial protocol. Major Shekhawat entered the Army after clearing the UPSC Combined Defence Services examination and undergoing training at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai. She was commissioned into the Army Service Corps in 2021 and rose to the rank of Major before taking up the prestigious assignment at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
