KTR Urges Centre to Set Up AI Hubs in Telangana

BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) met Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi and submitted proposals aimed at strengthening Telangana's technology ecosystem. KTR requested the Centre to establish an India AI Centre and an India AI Data Lab at the Warangal IT Hub under the new national AI policy. He said Warangal, the second-largest city in Telangana after Hyderabad, already has the necessary infrastructure to support advanced technology initiatives.

KTR also urged the Union Government to establish an STPI Centre of Entrepreneurship focusing on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, semiconductor design and deep-tech sectors in the undivided Karimnagar or Khammam districts. He further sought another STPI centre in a Tier-2 city and requested that the IT towers constructed in various districts during the previous BRS government be utilized for central AI and digital innovation programmes. During the interaction, KTR alleged that IT infrastructure created during the BRS regime is being underutilized under the present Congress government and claimed that IT employment in Hyderabad has declined from 9.46 lakh to 9.39 lakh over the past two years.
