The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted extensive searches across Karnataka on Tuesday amid allegations of large-scale irregularities in recruitment carried out by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC). Simultaneous searches were conducted at 21 locations, including Bengaluru, several districts across Karnataka and Ahmedabad in Gujarat. The KPSC office was also searched. ED officials reportedly searched the residences of suspended KPSC Chairman Shivashankarappa Sahakar, including his house in Bengaluru’s Dollars Colony and his residence in Aland, Kalaburagi district, as well as the homes of several candidates who secured veterinary officer posts through KPSC.
Shivashankarappa has been accused of allegedly accepting bribes of Rs 70–80 lakh from individual candidates in the recruitment of veterinary officers. The ED searches are reportedly part of the investigation into these allegations. Meanwhile, a Karnataka High Court division bench quashed the Governor’s order suspending KPSC Chairman Shivashankarappa Sahukar.
