A bullet train is set to pass through Amaravati as part of the Hyderabad–Amaravati–Chennai high speed rail corridor. The proposed route will go through the Andhra Pradesh capital, with plans for a major station near the region. The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited has initiated steps for the final location survey and Detailed Project Report (DPR).
Earlier, an alignment near the proposed international airport at Ravela was considered. However, concerns were raised that it would place Amaravati and Vijayawada far from the corridor. Following this, the state government suggested revising the DPR to ensure the route passes directly through Amaravati. The 760.09 km corridor is expected to enhance regional connectivity significantly.
