Key Government Decision on Liquor Shop Renewals..

The Andhra Pradesh government has extended the deadline for renewal of A4 liquor shop licences until September 23. The extension was granted by another two days following requests from liquor shop owners. A total of 3,650 A4 liquor shops are part of the renewal process for the 2026–27 excise year. The original deadline was September 21, which has now been extended to September 23.

The annual demand, including Renewal Retail Excise Tax (RET), annual RET and Permit Room RET, is estimated at Rs 3,637.35 crore. However, collection figures have been updated at different stages of the renewal process. As of September 21, 2,931 shops had opted for renewal, while payments amounting to Rs 754.1 crore had been received, according to The New Indian Express.
