The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education has announced key reforms in the intermediate education system, introducing practical examinations from the first year itself. Until now, practicals were conducted only in the second year, but under the new system, subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology will carry 15 marks for practicals each year, starting from first-year intermediate students.
Significant changes have also been made in Mathematics and language subjects. Mathematics will now follow activity-based learning with 15 internal assessment marks annually, reducing the final exam to 60 marks instead of 75. Overall, the total exam pattern is being revised from 100 marks to 80 marks, with 20 marks allocated for internal assessment. The board stated that these reforms aim to reduce rote learning and promote practical knowledge, creativity, and technical understanding among students.
