US President Donald Trump said Washington currently has no plans to hold talks with Iran. Despite an attack on a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, he said limited maritime traffic was continuing and that the strait remained open. Trump also stated that the US blockade in the region was continuing effectively and claimed that all sea mines had been cleared. Meanwhile, he posted a map claiming the Strait of Hormuz as US territory, a claim Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem rejected.
Trump also reportedly warned Oman over its approach to negotiations with Iran, with officials saying the US president expressed dissatisfaction with Muscat’s position. Meanwhile, Yemen-based Houthi rebels, backed by Iran, claimed responsibility for a drone attack on a Saudi government-owned oil refinery. Saudi Arabia has not issued an official statement on the reported attack.
