India’s Ministry of External Affairs has once again summoned US diplomat Jason Mikes in Delhi over recent attacks on vessels carrying Indian nationals near the Oman coast. Over the past four days, three such incidents have been reported, raising serious concerns. In one of the latest attacks on Thursday, around 20 Indian crew members were safely evacuated. India strongly condemned these incidents and issued a formal summons to the US envoy, marking the second such diplomatic action in recent days.
The government expressed deep concern over increasing threats to commercial shipping in West Asian waters. The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) has issued a maritime advisory to nearly 18,000 Indian seafarers operating in the Hormuz Strait and Oman coast regions. This comes after earlier incidents where three Indian sailors went missing following a similar attack, later confirmed dead, prompting heightened safety alerts for Indian nationals working in the region.
