Cyclone Arnab has reportedly caused severe disruption in Machilipatnam, the headquarters of Andhra Pradesh’s Krishna district, with heavy rainfall and strong winds affecting several parts of the city. Powerful gusts have uprooted large trees, while rainwater has inundated roads and disrupted traffic in multiple locations. Trees fell near the SP office, the R&B Guest House, the Collector’s bungalow and Lakshmi Talkies Centre, as well as along several major roads. Fallen trees blocked roadways in some areas, forcing motorists and commuters to face difficulties. Reports also indicate that animals died during the storm, adding to public concern as weather conditions deteriorated.
Heavy rain has left several roads waterlogged, slowing movement and raising concerns about public safety. The sudden change in weather has caused anxiety among residents, with fallen trees and flooded stretches highlighting the impact of the storm. Authorities need to remove fallen trees and clear obstructed roads to restore normal traffic movement. Residents are advised to remain alert, avoid areas with unstable trees or fallen electrical wires, and stay away from waterlogged locations. People are also urged to avoid unnecessary travel while the storm’s effects continue and to follow official safety instructions.
