Severe Cyclone Arnab is reportedly moving towards the Andhra Pradesh coast, with the weather department stating on Wednesday that the landfall process was expected to begin within the next hour. Strong winds, heavy rainfall and rough sea conditions have been reported across coastal areas. Authorities have issued flash flood warnings for Bapatla, Guntur, Krishna, NTR, Eluru, Konaseema, East Godavari, Anakapalli, Visakhapatnam, Manyam and Srikakulam districts, urging people to remain alert to the possibility of sudden flooding.
According to the report, the cyclone was centred approximately 30 kilometres from Narsapur and 45 kilometres from Yanam, moving at around 3 kilometres per hour over the preceding three hours. It was expected to cross the coast near Yanam. Heavy rain and strong winds were also reported in Kakinada as the landfall process continued. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Wednesday that no casualties had been reported so far. He attributed this to the precautionary measures taken by the government to prevent loss of life. Residents in the affected areas should follow official weather alerts and instructions from local authorities.
