India has strongly condemned the attack on a merchant vessel near the Oman coast at the entrance of the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The commercial ship, sailing under the Palau flag, was carrying 24 Indian nationals on board. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, 21 crew members have been rescued safely, while three Indian nationals remain missing. Search and rescue operations are currently underway, with Indian diplomatic missions closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with Omani authorities to ensure the safety of those involved.
In an official statement, India expressed concern over the repeated attacks on commercial shipping in the region and called for immediate de-escalation of tensions. The government emphasized the need to protect maritime trade routes, civilian infrastructure, and ensure the restoration of free and lawful navigation in accordance with international law. India also urged all parties to support diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the region.
