Home Minister Anitha Clarifies Jail Rules After Jagan Denied Meeting With Sidiri Appalaraju

Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha clarified the circumstances surrounding YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's visit to meet former minister Sidiri Appalaraju, stating that prison authorities acted strictly in accordance with jail regulations. She said the official mulakat (visitor) timings are scheduled between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm, whereas Jagan reached the jail only after 5:00 pm, making it impossible for authorities to permit the meeting.

The Home Minister alleged that the visit appeared to be politically motivated rather than a genuine attempt to meet the jailed former minister. According to Anitha, if the intention had been solely to meet Appalaraju, the visit could have been planned within the prescribed visiting hours. She maintained that the authorities followed established prison procedures without making any exceptions.
