The Telangana High Court on Tuesday dismissed two election petitions challenging the 2023 Assembly election of BRS Working President and Sircilla MLA K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), providing him significant legal relief. The petitions, filed separately by Congress candidate K.K. Mahender Reddy and Lagishetty Srinivas in 2024, alleged that KTR had failed to disclose certain facts in his election nomination and sought to declare his election invalid.
Justice Namavarapu Rajeshwara Rao observed that allegations of corruption cannot be accepted without credible evidence. The court ruled that the petitioners had failed to produce sufficient proof to support their claims and that election petitions cannot be based on assumptions or speculative allegations. Consequently, both petitions were dismissed.
