A contempt petition has been filed against Telangana Home Department Principal Secretary Shikha Goel regarding the approval granted for increased ticket prices of the film ‘Peddi’. The Home Department had issued orders on June 2 permitting the film’s ticket prices to be enhanced for a period of ten days. Challenging the decision, the petitioner alleged that the approval was granted in violation of existing court directions.
During the hearing held on Wednesday, the Telangana High Court observed that the memo issued by the Home Department was not in accordance with the applicable rules and emphasized that GO 121 should be followed while deciding on ticket price revisions. The government’s counsel requested additional time to obtain detailed instructions from the Home Department. Considering the request, the High Court adjourned the matter and scheduled the next hearing for June 15.
