Heavy rains have disrupted coal mining operations in Mancherial district after floodwater inundated multiple open-cast mines. Coal production has been suspended at the Indaram, Srirampur, Kalyani Khani and Khairiguda mines as waterlogging made mining activities unsafe and impossible to continue. The interruption has affected an estimated daily production of around 30,000 tonnes of coal.
Mining authorities are closely monitoring the water levels and assessing the damage caused by the continuous rainfall. Restoration work is expected to begin once weather conditions improve and the accumulated water is cleared from the mining areas. The temporary shutdown could impact coal supply if adverse weather continues for an extended period.
