A heat dome has led to record-breaking temperatures across several European countries, causing severe heatwave conditions. The UK, Ireland, France, Spain, and Italy are experiencing unusually high temperatures, with the UK recording up to 34.8°C and Spain reaching around 38°C. The extreme heat has disrupted normal life, with people struggling to cope with the rising temperatures and authorities issuing warnings across affected regions.
Experts explain that a heat dome occurs when hot air becomes trapped over a region due to a high-pressure system, leading to prolonged and intensified heat conditions. Typically, European summer temperatures range between 17°C and 18°C, but the current weather anomaly has pushed temperatures far beyond normal levels. Governments have issued safety advisories, with some countries considering work-from-home measures and restricting outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.
