Green Signal for Promotions in Ward Secretariats.. Key Government Decision

The Andhra Pradesh government has taken a key decision to provide promotions to Ward Secretariat employees. Based on the recommendations of the Ministers’ Committee, the government approved the restructuring of wards to facilitate promotions for Ward Administrative Secretaries, Data Processing Secretaries, Sanitation and Environment Secretaries (Grade-II), and Ward Planning and Regulation Secretaries. Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Narayana announced the decision. In place of 458 surplus Ward Amenities Secretary (Grade-II) posts and 457 Ward Planning and Regulation Secretary (Grade-II) posts identified during rationalisation, the government has created 815 new Junior Assistant posts without any additional financial burden.

Eligible Ward Administrative Secretaries will first be promoted against the newly created Junior Assistant posts. Subsequently, Ward Data Processing Secretaries will be considered for promotion based on the vacancies arising from the process. The government has also approved a proposal to upgrade 815 Grade-II posts each in the Ward Sanitation and Environment Secretary and Ward Planning and Regulation Secretary cadres, taking the total number of Grade-I upgrades to 1,630.
