YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has reacted to the protest by village and ward secretariat employees. He questioned the use of police action against employees seeking resolution of their service-related demands, including pending benefits and promotions. Jagan alleged that employees have not received Interim Relief or a Pay Revision Commission and that five Dearness Allowance instalments are pending, with total dues amounting to around ₹40,000 crore, according to his claim.
Jagan criticised the alleged detention of employees and the action taken to prevent them from attending the protest. He questioned whether preventing peaceful demonstrations and suspending employees was consistent with democratic norms. He alleged that the government was targeting the village and ward secretariat system and urged authorities to address employees’ grievances through dialogue. YSRCP leaders said 141 employees were detained during the protest, while reports confirmed that police detained several protesters after they attempted to reach Dharna Chowk in Vijayawada.
