Godavari Water Level Rising at Bhadrachalam

The flood flow in the Godavari at Bhadrachalam is gradually increasing due to rainfall in the upstream areas. The water level reached 42.8 feet at 7 pm on Sunday. Officials said the rise was being driven by inflows from the Indravati region as well as rainfall in the Godavari catchment areas. In view of the situation, officials alerted personnel working in low-lying areas and stepped up monitoring.

As a precautionary measure, the Kalyana Katta at the Bhadrachalam Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy Temple, where devotees offer their hair, was shifted from the riverbank and temporarily set up near the flood bund. Bathing at the main ghat has been suspended due to the rising floodwaters. Police have also deployed personnel as part of security and safety measures around the temple and riverfront.
