Country’s Focus Is on Rahul Gandhi as Future Prime Minister - Uttam Kumar Reddy

Telangana Minister and senior Congress leader N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said there is an aspiration in the country to see Rahul Gandhi as the future Prime Minister. Addressing a public meeting in Nereducherla of Suryapet district on Sunday, he said Rahul Gandhi had been raising issues concerning constitutional values, democracy and citizens’ rights. Uttam said democracy goes beyond conducting elections and includes public confidence in the electoral system, independent functioning of institutions and the freedom to express views. He also said questions raised by Rahul Gandhi over electoral rolls and the conduct of elections should be addressed transparently.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said Rahul Gandhi had continued to raise public issues despite facing political criticism and attacks. He called upon Congress workers in Telangana to strengthen the party at the grassroots and work towards the party’s performance in all Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s “vote chori” allegations, Uttam said concerns related to voters’ rights and the electoral process should receive transparent responses from the concerned institutions. The BJP has rejected the allegations.
