Former MP and BRS leader Boinapally Vinod Kumar has urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to name the proposed Mamunur Airport after Rani Rudrama Devi. In a five page open letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Vinod Kumar said former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had worked extensively for the airport project. He claimed that BRS leaders had met the Prime Minister and Union Civil Aviation Ministers several times in connection with the project and said it was incorrect to claim that the previous government had done nothing.
Vinod Kumar said he was sending Revanth Reddy details of the efforts made for the Mamunur Airport, along with photographs, videos and news clippings of meetings with Union Ministers in Delhi. He acknowledged that Revanth Reddy, in his capacity as Chief Minister, also had a role in advancing the project, but said it was not correct to claim sole credit for the airport. The Telangana government has said that land acquisition for the Mamunur Airport has been completed and the required land handed over to the Airports Authority of India. Revanth Reddy has also invited public suggestions for naming the proposed airport.
