

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that an additional 3,000 buses will be handed over to RTC through Women Self Help Groups in the coming years. Speaking at the Women’s Week celebrations held at Secunderabad Parade Grounds, he flagged off 553 buses owned by women’s groups under the Mahila Shakti scheme and officially transferred their operations to RTC on a rental basis.
The Chief Minister said the government is committed to transforming one crore women into millionaires by 2034. He revealed that Self Help Groups currently have 67 lakh members and called for expanding membership to one crore women. He assured support for women led business initiatives and encouraged local groups to prepare business plans. The government is also promoting crop diversification and has established an international fruit market with an investment of ₹2,400 crore to strengthen agricultural marketing.
Highlighting welfare initiatives, Revanth Reddy stated that the government has paid over ₹10,000 crore to RTC under the Mahalakshmi free bus travel scheme for women. He said 27,000 schools have been entrusted to women under the Amma Adarsha Pathashala programme. The government has provided ₹61,000 crore in bank linkage support to Self-Help Groups and paid ₹2,000 crore towards interest-free loans. During the event, cheques worth ₹20.34 crore for bus rentals, ₹10,700 crore under the free travel scheme, and ₹500 crore under the interest-free loan programme were distributed.
