Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has urged citizens to take the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls seriously, as the exercise begins on July 1. He warned that if a person's name is missing from the voter list, it could affect not only their voting rights but also access to government welfare schemes in the future.
Calling the right to vote a fundamental democratic right, Shivakumar appealed to every eligible voter to verify their names in the electoral roll. The Election Commission of India will conduct a door-to-door voter verification drive from July 1 to July 29 across Karnataka to collect and update voter information. He urged citizens to cooperate with officials during the exercise.
