Crackdown on Protesters in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir

Crackdown on Protesters in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir

Pakistan has reportedly intensified its crackdown on protesters in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) by taking several strict measures. Reports suggest that the authorities have cancelled the recognition of 13 schools in the Poonch division, seized properties linked to Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) leaders, and sealed several business establishments. Passports of JAAC leaders and protesters have also reportedly been suspended.

Meanwhile, bank accounts of some journalists covering the protests have allegedly been frozen. The Pakistan government has also reportedly added around 500 people to its terrorism watchlist. The developments have raised concerns among human rights groups over restrictions on protests, civil liberties, and freedom of expression in the region.
