Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to ensure that nearly 50,000 village panchayat employees across the state receive their salaries on the first day of every month. During a review meeting with senior officials of the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department, the Chief Minister stated that panchayat staff should receive salaries on time just like IAS officers. He announced that the government would allocate ₹50 crore every month specifically for salary payments.
The Chief Minister also instructed officials to ensure timely salaries for all outsourcing and contract employees across government departments without delay. He warned that even a one-day delay in salary disbursement would not be tolerated. Revanth Reddy further directed officials to restore the financial autonomy of gram panchayats by amending provisions related to Own Source Revenue. He also ordered reforms in pension distribution, directing that pensions be directly credited into beneficiaries’ bank accounts instead of being distributed through the postal department. Officials were asked to streamline pensions based on Aadhaar, voter ID, and survey data to ensure benefits reach only eligible beneficiaries.
