CM Chandrababu to Visit Eluru District Tomorrow

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will visit Eluru district tomorrow and, along with Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan, is set to unveil what is described as India’s first non-GMO popcorn maize hybrid seed. Musunuru will host the event, highlighting efforts to increase farmers’ incomes through value addition, processing, branding and better market access for agricultural produce.

The hybrid seed will be unveiled under the aegis of Gourmet Popcornika, which works with thousands of farmers cultivating popcorn maize across several thousand acres in India. The company’s processing plant at Musunuru is among Asia’s major popcorn processing facilities and supplies popcorn to thousands of cinema theatres across the country. The new non-GMO hybrid seed is scheduled to be launched on Monday.
