Centre Issues Key Advisory for LPG Consumers

The central government has issued an important update for domestic LPG consumers. From October 1, 2026, consumers will need to complete Biometric Aadhaar Authentication to book domestic LPG refills at the regulated retail selling price with applicable subsidy. Consumers who have already completed the authentication process will not need to repeat it. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said the measure is aimed at ensuring that LPG subsidy benefits reach eligible consumers.

Consumers can complete Biometric Aadhaar Authentication during LPG cylinder delivery, at their distributor’s showroom or through the mobile applications of the respective oil marketing companies. The government has clarified that consumers who do not complete the authentication can still receive LPG, but without the subsidy and at the applicable market price. Consumers have been advised to complete the authentication before October 1.
